BLACKJACK – a new rock storm from Asia

BLACKJACK – a new rock storm from Asia

One of the best reviewers of famous rock & heavy magazines like GRINDZONE and FLASH, Andrea Morelli from Italy, has written a wonderful review for BLACKJACK album, band from Hong Kong – China.

“A tribute to American glam heroes of the 80s is not anything common.
You need dedication, true passion and courage.
Yes, courage. Because it’s hard to re-create the sound and the atmospheres of such songs.
But bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate, Testament, Helloween, Scorpions (to mention some) are still on stage and probably some headbanger still willing of listening to some good old metal sound still exists.

The album  “We rock Hong Kong” goes straight back to the magic period for metal, the 80s, blinking the eye to bands like Motley Crue, Ratt, Dokken and proudly exhibits an essential and catchy sound.
Save Blackjack put in place a solid network of musicians all over the world.
The band is working in China – Hong Kong, smashing again with stage presence and look not going unnoticed, long hair, heavy metal chains, leather dress, makeup, and so on…

Album review:

Rock and blood. A filtered female voice asks: how many rock do you wanna play, tonight? A howling noise and a robust drumming break and launch us back in the 80s. The screams of Francesca Tosi (Mediera, Milan) support the rhythmic section (rhythm guitar: Ashish, OZmium, Hong Kong) and drive the song into a great guitar solo (Vince Nardelli, Flying daggers, Hong Kong).

Not a line is a remake of an Indya’s song. As before a siren sound introduce in a wild tune in which the rhythm guitar rules heavily. The “street” climax is underlined by Laudez Rose’s (Indya, London) voice, who fits perfectly with the heavy sound.

Don’t turn away is a remake of the original song of C.O.D.E. (Milan) and reminded me of some Dokken’s works. The song proceeds slow, accompanied by the robust voice of Ronnie Alberti (C.O.D.E.) and straight guitar work (Solo guitar: Pino Rizzitelli, C.O.D.E.; rhythm guitar: Ashish, OZmium, Hong Kong). The sound is clean and the solo is excellent.

In Moneyvirus the 80s glam atmosphere rules. A thin keyboard sound merges with the guitar, the sound of which is more hard-rock oriented and allows the vocals by Angel Rock (the Clan, Milan) to rise and drive the song together with heavy bass.

World in flame is the best chapter. The powerful voice of Annett Horvath (Leecher, Hungary) matches perfectly with the glam construct of the song, in which a very heavy rhythmic section is present. Save’s bass pumps in a damned way and makes the listener asks himself if he is listening to a “camouflaged” thrash song. The guitar solo is from Andy Basiola (Future Shock, London).

Never alone is of a different mood. This time the shiny atmospheres leave room to a darker sound, underlined by the “dirty” voice of Angel Rock (the Clan, Milan). A solo guitar leaves its mark on this last song.
